Vacation Home Rentals

With the ease of renting and advertising one's home on the Internet, more and more homeowners have made the decision to rent out their homes on a short term basis.

However, many of these homeowners are unaware of the rules and regulations that they must follow.

The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau has been partnering with the Pocono Mountains Realtors Association’s Short-term Rental Committee since 2018. We have also partnered with Poconos Association for Vacation Rental Homeowners to ensure that owners, property managers, renters, and guests are following the guidelines and being good neighbors to the residents where the Vacation Homes are in the Poconos.

The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, in conjunction with the County Treasurers, is working to ensure that all short-term (less than 30 consecutive days) vacation home rentals are paying their fair share of State Sales Tax and County Hotel Tax.

Information on each county's hotel tax registration can be found by contacting the County Treasurer for Carbon, Monroe, Pike or Wayne.

Information regarding registering your business with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue can be found on their forms page.

If you should have any questions regarding collecting or remitting your County Hotel Tax please feel free to contact Chris Barrett.
